LAROKA TRUST FOUNDATION VISITS PROFESSOR OMOLEWA

We had been planning our visit to Professor Michael Omolewa for many months. Getting an appointment with the former UNESCO Chair was was no small task due to his busy schedule. Professor Omolewa was Nigeria’s permanent representative to UNESCO from 2000 to 2009.

We finally got our opportunity for a meeting on 30th December 2016 at his house in Ibadan. He was home after a period of international travel. Prince Adekunle Adedigba, the chairman of Laroka Trust Foundation attended the meeting. Also present was Mr Gbenga Oso, secretary of the Foundation. The team held discussions with the Professor on The Story Teller House project. Professor Omolewa commended the initiative and assured the Foundation of his full support. He noted that the project could be the first of its kind on the continent and encouraged its timely execution.

The former UNESCO chair suggested local and international contacts that could assist. He advised that the project’s promoters seek UNESCO World Heritage Centre status.

Laroka Trust Foundation appreciates the generosity of this accomplished diplomat and culture advocate.
